Spring is Coming: Big Plans, Bigger Fields, and Fresh Opportunities!

The last few days on the farm have been beautiful! The sunshine has been pouring down, and we've been out making some serious headway. Yesterday, we had a nice little crew here helping us clear reeds, and guess what? We have SO much more space than we realized! After some scythe slashing, we've carved out space for ten (10) 4ft x 40ft rows and five (5) 10ft x 40ft rows. And the best part? There’s still more room to grow!

While many of these new plots will be dedicated to flowers for the farm, we're also opening up some space for lease! Have you ever dreamed of trying your hand at organic farming? Seasoned growers or a passionate beginners, do reach out; our Organic Farm Plot Leases are a fantastic way to get your hands in the soil. Email me (Gabi) at gaugergabriella@gmail.com for more info and fill out the application if you're sure!

Seeds, Seeds, and More Seeds!

We just placed an order for around 100 different varieties of seeds, covering both flowers and food! We source the majority of our seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, one of the best in the business. If you don’t already know about them, Baker Creek is committed to non-GMO, heirloom, and rare seed varieties that help preserve biodiversity and support sustainable farming. Their dedication to quality and ethical growing practices makes them our go-to supplier. And they don’t even pay us to say this, but definitely check out their website.

Even while we wait for the new varieties to arrive, we’re already in motion! Over the last two days, we planted eight trays of veggie seeds, and trust us, that’s just the beginning. Our priority is to feed ourselves and our immediate community first, ensuring that those closest to us have fresh & nutritious food—free of chemicals and pesticides. Any surplus will be available for purchase at our farm stand and at local markets—so keep an eye out for us at the Fulton & Oswego Farmers' Markets this season!

Join Us—Volunteer, Work-Stay, and Experience the Farm Life

It’s officially farm season, and we are looking for volunteers! Starting this week, we’ll be doing farm work every Monday, with increasing opportunities to help out on other days as the season picks up. We’re also on the lookout for work-travelers and farm-stay folks interested in making a short-term commitment (2 weeks to 2 months) in exchange for a unique farm experience.

A little backstory: Before settling here, I (Gabi Gauger) lived the van life for over three years, traveling the U.S. and taking on seasonal gigs. Now, I’m privileged to offer similar opportunities to young people like me right here at Gauger Estate. We have a seasonal campground, outdoor event venue, flower and food farm, and short-term vacation rentals spread across 42 acres of land—some of which is protected DEC wetlands, home to herons, eagles, beavers, deer, and so much more. If you’re looking for an adventure that lets you connect with nature while learning hands-on building, farming and community skills, this might be the perfect place for you!

We’re always happy to add new faces to our ever-evolving community and we are AMPED to kick off this 2025 season!
